Pro-Strain & Clipex - A Complete Metal Fencing Solution

Product

Tornado Torus RL12/182/15 Deer Net

Challenge

This particular Clipex project was providing 1350m of fencing for 17.5 acres of ground coming out of Agricultural use and going into a commercial softwood woodland.

The land is based in Wootton Wawen, Near Stratford upon Avon.

The main reason for the fencing is to keep both Fallow and Roe deer, along with rabbits and sheep out to stop the damage they cause to young trees that are being planted.

The main challenges were the tricky areas of uneven terrain and making sure the fencing followed the contour of the ground, to stop unwanted access. This was solved using extra posts to secure the fencing to.

Approach

After discussion with the customer it was decided to use Clipex fencing with the Pro Strain because of ease and quickness of the installation, its sustainability and it creates an un-obstructive fence line on the landscape.

The installation process came with ease as we knocked the Pro Strainer posts and the Clipex in with a Tracked Post Knocker. The most important thing was to make sure that the Clipex didn’t flex, so we rock spiked first with a slim spike, then put the post in the spike holder about halfway up the post which stopped the flex.

The Pro Strain posts with the breast plates make a really good solid straining point that can be tensioned later on if needed, by turning the turn buckle.

We decided to use the RL12/182/15 Deer netting along with 1050/31/189 rabbit netting. This was for ease of installation and cost, being that keeping the rabbits out was the main priority as there is a low number of Deer about.

Results

The Customer was really happy with the overall results. As he states below:

“The Tornado Clipex fence certainly looks very impressive, it is robust and the product is well finished. Because it has been erected by a professional contractor (Shaun McGinn) to a high standard, we’re also hoping after a number of years when the trees are established we can move it onto another site, hence getting multiple uses from its Life Span”. Simon Haimes

The Strainer posts with both the longer and smaller plates were really solid once installed, both on a straight pull and on a major turning point and the added bonus is you have the option then to adjust slightly if needed later on.

Overall the Pro Strain and Clipex fencing was very easy to install which meant that there was less labour costs involved and was less obtrusive on the overall landscape.
