Manufactured from 89mm x 3mm OD tube. They are pre-drilled with 13.5mm holes to enable heel and breast plates to be fitted and a 12mm hole for the strut coupler.

Manufactured from 48mm x 3.2mm OD tube.
Strut Pegs
Manufactured from 89mm x 3mm tube and 1m in length they are pre-drilled with 13.5mm holes to enable a breast plate to be fitted and a 12mm hole for the strut coupler.
Couplers and adjuster
The large coupler is inserted into the bottom of the strut and is located into the pre-drilled hole in the strut peg. The small coupler is then fitted into the adjuster which in turn is fitted into the strut. Simply extend the adjuster until the small coupler is securely located in pre-drilled hole on the straining post. This allows the system to be pre-loaded, ahead of the fence tension being applied to the strainer.
Breast/heel plates
Manufactured from 250 x 250 x 4mm galvanised plate and drilled to take M12 x 110mm fixings. One should be bolted to the rear of the straining posts in the bottom holes (heel plate). A second plate should be bolted to the front of the straining posts in the other set of holes (breast plate). A plate should also be bolted to the front on the ‘strut peg’ to work as an additional breast plate.
Larger plates 350 x 250 x 4mm are available as an option when working in soft ground.
Note: Although the bolts are designed to shear if they hit an immovable object underground, if working in chalk it is advisable not to fit the heel plate, however the breast plate should still be fitted to help prevent the post from twisting.
Kits are available in two parts.
- Select your straining post kit.
We would recommend a minimum post length 2.4m for livestock, 2.6m for rail/cattle and 3.2m for deer fencing. Each straining post kit includes a breast plate, heel plate, M12 fixings and a post cap
- Select your strut kits.
The strut kits contain a strut, strut peg, adjuster, couplers, breast plate, M12 fixings and a post cap.
We would recommend 2.4m kit for livestock or rail/cattle and 3.0m for deer fencing.
Note: if a two-way or corner strainer is required simply order two strut kits per straining post. If the straining post is being used as a slight turning post, then a strut may not be required.

FAQ's
- What if I want to use a box assembly?
By using the multi packs simply use two of the straining posts (with breast & heel plates fitted) combined with one of the Pro-struts. Note: you will need to purchase a Gripple GPAK (available separately) for the diagonal bracing wire. Self-tapping screws will be required to keep the diagonal wire in position.
- Can I use a longer post if working in soft ground?
Yes. Although you might need to reposition the breast plate and strut fixing hole. This can be done by simply drilling additional holes. Step drills work very well with our system and are a good addition to any toolkit.
- Do I need to treat cuts and holes?
Galvanizing is ‘self-healing’, protecting small exposed areas of metal, so there is no need to treat cut ends or holes, however cold Zinc spray can be used if desired.
- Can I install the strut after tying off the wire?
Yes. The struts can be fixed in position after tying-off, allowing for greater access.
- How do I stop the wire sliding up the straining posts?

Welder’s magnets are a good way of keeping the wire in position when tensioning. For a more permanent solution self-tapping screws can be used.

- How long will the posts last?
As with all galvanised products the atmospheric and soil conditions may have an effect on its longevity, having said that we would expect a service life at least similar to the net being used, which can be in excess of 30 years.
- Why would I need a larger breast plate?
The larger breast plates are designed to increase the surface area of the straining post. These are particularly useful in soft ground or on turning posts.
- What is the temporary strut plate for?
The temporary strut plate is used in conjunction with a strut assembly and a smooth wire strainer when a temporary strut is required (Bunny hopping) this is simply disassembled after the fence is erected and can be re-used on the next project.
